OUR PRISON SYSTEM - Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Albert Einstein is quoted above and I feel like I am accurate in stating, "Doing more of what works, works." I heard it in a seminar on Life and Career Management and it is amazing how powerful some basic some principles are.

I received an email from a friend of mine that is worth some thought because it gives an alternative to the way most other people are managing the prison system. This is not a comparison of the different systems, but a call to think about what we are being told.

1. There are riots in prison with extensive damage and physical harm.

2. There is a court system which blames overcrowding for the poor quality of the life of the inmates.

3. There is a pending court order that this overcrowding must be solved or the prisoners released.

4. How much thought does it take to muse over the fact that if you play to the media and the court system and create as much chaos as you can to prove that the caring ones are right, you will not have to pay for your crime.

This line of reasoning is, in my opiniion, the same reasoning used to close GITMO. We have the best facility in the best location which operates painfully well (not perfect), but we are concerned about world opinion fed to us by MoveOn.orgers and MSNBC types. al Qaeda uses the information for their recruiting propaganda. The alternative is, "Let's move the detainees to American soil where we can expose our civilians to a spectacular al Qaeda operation made for TV and where these poor abused victims can plead for fair treatment while enjoying their confinement and still presenting al Queda with propanda. I am puzzled, but I did come up with the explanation. There are both gullible fools and intelligent people whom I define at http://factsforreality.net/
as mooreons and WIIers respectively. I have not heard a better explanation and I remain open to a challenge. It just does not make sense to me, but a negotiating class lab enlightened me that humans will work to their own detriment.

I believe that there is a movement playing on Roger Dawson, an Englishman teaching negotiation, talking about the most powerful negotiating gambit to use against an American is, "What do you think is fair?"

The following quote describes an emotional tool which is now used for more than money. "A liberal is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow man, which debt he proposes to pay off with your money." "A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul." George Bernard Shaw (1944)

Please excuse the unclean formatting - I need to get to work, but I checked my email and felt we need to pay attention to how we analyze and implement what we do in this world. We really can go through life without thinking about anything if we want. We only have to think about and protect that which is important to us, like our country's place in the world and fiscal well being.
